Prior to beginning my doctoral studies, I was an active member of the communities that I belonged to - particularly when it came to volunteering with the local minor hockey association. While I have not been able to maintain that level of involvement since beginning my Ph.D. program it is something that I would like to return to now that I have finished my degree. I have been able to continue my associate membership with the Royal Canadian Legion, although being in the United States has limited my direct involvement.
